TELL ME YOU LOVE ME, BUT IN PERSON
Whenever you make up
your mind to tell me how
you feel about me,
please tell it to my face.
Don’t tell me in a virtual message;
please tell me in person.
I want to see your face when you say it.
I want to hear if your heart beats
heavily from your chest.
I want to see if your eyes could
barely look at me or they rest in mine.
I want to sense the willingness of your heart,
the submission of your mind,
the inclusion of your soul!
I want to watch your hands
struggle to keep to themselves.
I want to see if a part of you
would tremble in fear of me not saying yes.
I want to be sure your lips are wet
when you ask me to be yours,
and your words are calm and meant.
I want to see if your nostrils are
glad to breathe the air that I breathe.
I want to know my cologne strikes a nerve.
I want to watch your neck twirl side
to side in assurance, and see your
shoulders form a pact that I
might lean on until the end of time.
Say it like a confession,
speak it like a declaration.
I want to feel as your blood vessels
pump, and as your heart rate increases!
Say it to me in person!
I want to feel it!
I want to know that you love me
and let it send shivers down my spine!
I want to hear, in your voice,
the dedication to give me all of you!
I want to be assured by your voice
that you’d fight for what we’ve got.
I want to see you as you use your words!
Say it to my face!
Let me see how certain you are!
Let me validate the involvement
of your body, mind, and soul!
Everything you’ve ever owned.
I want to know it in the depth of how
you mean it!
Say it to my face that you want me!
Say it so good that all I am
submits to that understanding,
and all you are aligns with
the knowledge of it!
Say what you want with me!
Say it in person,
with truth and from spirit,
with a stamp of all you’d ever be.
