Loving You Regardless
People say there’s that one person
you’d always love and want regardless.
You are my one person,
but I don’t think I’d always love
and want you regardless.
I am different.
While I like the idea of you,
I am unable to tolerate this reality with you.
That of everything to do and all words to say,
of all actions to perform,
you prefer to wait or give us away.
I think that you are sane and
fit enough to decide what you
want and it’s selfish of you to do
ward rounds before coming back to us.
I know for you,
it’s you taking your time,
it’s you being sure,
it’s you trying to know and make sure this works.
For me, it translates as weighing options,
as you finding something and someone better,
as you not wanting us enough.
That’s a selfish type of love
and it’s no way in line of
what I have for you or intend for us.
So, it’s useless to say I love just you
and I’d love just you until the end of my life.
It means that I am saying to myself
“I’d rather give myself to this person
who is uncertain instead of finding
joy in a good space”
that’s an unfair place to put myself.
Because yes, really
I could die for you if need be.
I could turn hills for you,
move the mountains and
grow through time with you,
but if you wouldn’t do the same,
it’s a waste of my pure intentions
and a delay of my time,
a detour of the sincerity
I look to experience and
I never want to give you the pleasure
or honor of ripping me
off the ability to love someone
so purely because I am stuck on you.
Because whether or not I like it,
You’d find someone for you.
I also would hate to keep myself
in bound because of your inability
to journey with me.
So, yes I love you.
But I wouldn’t always do!
I won’t feel no guilt for the
day that I stop to,
because even you know,
the grace I extend to you,
is the type that only God could-
I love you that much.
But sometimes love isn’t enough
and to be loved back is a good start to more.
