OVER IT

 

You say “let’s get over everything that happened”.

You say it like it easy. 

You say “forgive me, I promise it won’t repeat itself”

You say it like I can forget. 

You often forget that signs have stories that they tell. 

Those little things also have side effects.

They strip you off the dignity of your words.

They leave me with memories that have flaws. 

They leave me with regrets, with questions. 

With I should have known(s)!

With torture. 

When you say “I am sorry”.

I often believe you.

But my heart stays put,

Waiting for when you’d be YOU! 

You say “let’s start over”

Like I can put behind the thoughts of your nonchalance.

Like I can ignore when you acted like we didn’t matter.

Like I can forsake when you brought pains to my heart.

I know signs, you carry a lot. 

I’d argue that people change, 

But I could be wrong. 

Who changes from not picking calls? 

From saying “I am busy all day long” 

From those things you do and say! 

It’s not as easy as you claim!

You say let’s get over it, 

I think it’s not real,

You’d always be the same!
