MY PARENTS MADE ME
The love that was before conception
Dreams of a son to toss a football high,
Or a daughter, matching outfits under the sky.
Perhaps both, they decided, no one to miss,
In laughter sealed with kisses of bliss.
The love that was during gestation kisses given,
the voice of prophecies declared, and a bright future planned
their hearts rejoiced. Deprivations, sacrifices,
all done with glee, To ensure my comfort, my joy
The tender touch that made me kick in excitement a show awaited
How they loved me before they saw me.
My looks mattered not, I was beautiful because I was God’s gift.
Accepted with no love to give back, cared for as I took form
Dad's warmth, kept me quiet when mum lay her head to rest
Mom's least favorite food, she consumed with zest.
For my sake, they sacrificed, without a pause,
In class, one day they asked of creation's decree,
Confidently, I answered, my parents, you see.
For in them, I found God's love, pure and free, A love so divine,
In their love, I found my essence true, A bond unbreakable.
The love of my parents!
