Crazy space
They say we haven’t failed
Or maybe we have.
Then call us by the names of
things we’ve never are.
And when you make a mistake,
They bug your life.
Society is just a crazy place
with diverse people of different
pains, with each thinking they
know what is best for you.
They don’t even know your
middle name.
All over you as though
their lives was a better place.
I thought to write you,
I am sorry if you’ve
think you’ve failed.
All of these expectations
we need to live up to,
they are vain.
But when I look at you,
you look like a mess.
You won’t dare lie to me.
You’ve been staying
up at night thinking
about many things.
Why did mama die?
Why did papa leave?
Why am I 29 without
a roof over me?
At 25, I still struggle to eat.
Look at Bolaji, 23,
fresh with his car keys.
At Sharon, with husband
and kid while
I can’t conceive
Maybe I’d never go
to school, this
admission search stinks.
All of the questions
running like thoughts.
I think it’s alright for you
to think of some.
Just thought to tell you to breathe.
Tomorrow would go and
what would be would be.
All of your scars would heal.
You’d get answers.
Maybe change patterns.
You haven’t failed.
You just listen to many fates.
Even I am still finding my way.
Let’s carry burden to the one
Who makes a way.
Call Jesus, The Name above
every other names.
There is sanity in the temple.
Our safe place.
