You are ... Episode 1
It was 7:15pm on Thursday, I dropped my phone on the table and walked towards the door. I knew who was knocking. I am coming, I responded with a plain face.
I held the knob of the gray door and turned the key twice, I slowly backed away from behind as the person on the other side flipped it open. Be gentle, I whispered.
I had seen him nod his head as I headed back to my couch.
Not even a hug? I heard him ask as I touched my phone.
Hi to you too, please sit, I responded, this time with a frown.
As he sat by the the couch on my right side, there was a long silence before my phone vibrated.
I nodded, I need to go out shortly, my reminder for an event just came up, I believe I mentioned to you earlier.
Yes, yes, he responded.
Okay, I said and turned my face towards the TV but it was muted and I wasn’t interested in it.
Let this time pass, I pleaded in my head, I don’t want to go through it.
I am sorry, said a fading voice.
What? Oh wait what! I asked in order to reconcile with the moment I thought I missed.
I am sorry, he repeated.
I know that I hurt you and I am sorry for it, I really am.
I understand you, it’s fine, are you ready to leave? I asked as I stood from the couch.
It doesn’t have to be this way, he said slowly.
Are you ready to leave, I asked again.
I was hoping we’d talk, he stated.
We already did, I responded sharply still standing.
I thought you had something to say, he asked as he stood up.
I have said everything, I responded as I stared at his face.
I didn’t mean to, to not treat you well, and I don’t know how best to ask that this should, I mean that we forget old times and maybe try, try again? He stammered.
